I am currently in my third year at the University of Cincinnati as a Mechanical Engineering student. I am from Liberty Township, Ohio, but I have also lived in Los Angeles, California and Utica, New York. I have liked mechanical systems for most of my life, specifically aircraft, cars, and motorcycles. My father worked at The National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC) working with Russian aircraft, so I was able to get many amazing close up experiences with Russian aircraft. I have also worked on my own cars and motorcycles since I was in middle school. These experiences inspired me to pursue mechanical engineering and complete three co-ops in the aerospace field in the manufacturing of jet engine compressors. My favorite classes so far have been Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, and System Dynamics and Vibrations; the reason for this being they are extremely applicable to jet engines.
My hobbies outside of school include computer systems, soccer, motorsports, and simulations. I recently picked up an old Dell PowerEdge R710 rackmount server to learn about virtualization as well as use it for file storage and compute power. To go along with it, I also purchased a Cisco switch to learn more about networking. I am currently teaching myself how to program in VB, VBA, C# and MATLAB. Personally, I believe strong computer skills are a must as the capabilities of computers far exceeds what many people use them for. I like to watch European soccer, specifically the Premier League, with my favorite team being Tottenham Hotspur. I also like to watch Formula One racing, as the technology, especially the aerodynamic features, is exceedingly complex. To further expand upon what I learned in school, I like to create CAD models of various things and run simulations on them in SolidWorks. Eventually, I would like to create a small wind tunnel and try to correlate the fluid simulations to real life data.
